Location: Doucecroft School, Eight Ash Green, Colchester

Salary: Band A at £7.75 per hour.

Hours: Part time – 57.5 hours over a two weeks based on working an eight week rolling shift pattern. This is a part time 52 week flexible working contract to include covering some weekends on a Rota basis to be agreed two weeks in advance. During school holiday periods when the school provision is slightly different, flexibility to work day and evening shifts would be expected to work in accordance with a slightly adjusted rota.

Autism Anglia’s Doucecroft School is a small independent special school which provides education and care for children and young people with autistic spectrum condition. You will be a flexible, positive, energetic and enthusiastic individual who will work as part of a team and your main duties will include:

  • Supporting students with ASC whilst encouraging and developing the individual’s life skills.
  • Ensuring safety and well-being and the quality of support given meets the identified needs of the individual student.
  • To provide a high quality of care and contribute to the smooth and safe running of the residential setting.
  • To support students during intimate care.
  • Following and implementing school policies and procedures and making sure accurate records and documentation is maintained.
  • To ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained including monitoring and maintaining resources, organising laundry and keeping the house clean and tidy.

Experience:

  • Level 3 Diploma children and young people or working towards the qualification - essential
  • Experience and knowledge of working in residential care - essential
  • Experience with emotionally and physically challenging situations and behaviours - essential
  • Good communication skills - essential

It is desirable that the post holder should have a full driving licence.
