Super fundraisers, Synergy Cosplay have been supporting local charity Autism Anglia since 2021 and raised an incredible £15,000 to support the work of the charity.

Synergy Cosplay was founded by husband and wife, Dave and Vicky Floyde who live in Manningtree. The group now has over 600 members who dress as various well-known characters from Classic Disney, Star wars, Marvel, DC and many more to provide fun and entertainment at various events in the region and across the UK.

While bringing joy to everyone they meet, they also hold collections for Autism Anglia, and the donations soon add up!

As well as raising vital funds for the charity, they also help raise the profile and improve understanding of autism.  And they can speak from experience as many of their members are themselves autistic.

Dave and Vicky's son now age 12 received an autism diagnosis at 6 years old. It was through helping the charity that Vicky and Dave began to realise that Dave himself is autistic and their daughter is now also going through a diagnosis.

Vicky said:

"Dave and I created the group with the idea of bringing together some amazing people from across all walks of life, we have a huge amount of members on the spectrum, all of the members enjoy the release and happiness that cosplay gives them, it gives us such an amazing feeling when you can see how happy you have made adults and children alike when they meet their favourite character and the chance to be a big kid themselves.

"We are so very lucky to have a hard working admin team helping us with all events and bookings, We have watched each and every member go from strength to strength with confidence, energy and everyone that has joined us has made family and new friends for life. We love them all so very much.

"We are so very proud of our cosplay journey so far and we are so excited for what the future brings for us too."

The support of Synergy Cosplay was recognised when the founders were invited with their family to a recent Autism Anglia event where they were presented with a certificate and flowers by the charity’s chief executive James McQuiggan and chairman Andy Beevers to say thank you for all their hard work.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be able to thank Dave and Vicky for all of their hard work raising such a huge amount of money for the charity over the past couple of years. We are incredibly grateful to them and all their members for their ongoing support.

“Autism Anglia relies on the support of our community to ensure we can improve and enhance our services for autistic people.”
