Corrina Rowe

Trustee

My son Sam attended Doucecroft school and FE unit, from the age of 11 in 2000.  At the age of 19 he moved into Autism Anglia’s Supported Living, he is now 36 and very settled.  I am extremely grateful for the education and care Sam had and continues to receive.  I became a Trustee of Autism Anglia just over 10 years ago, following a request for Parent Trustees.  I was keen to be more involved in the charity, to ensure it was able to continue providing specialist care and education to my son and others for many years to come.

I consider myself to be an extremely caring person, highly emphatic and compassionate, with a desire to ensure those who are vulnerable can lead their lives to the full. In fact, I have been involved in caring for others, one way or another, for most of my adult life.   In the past I have held a wide range of voluntary roles including, school governor, magistrate sitting in criminal and family courts, Home Start family support, and my Church’s toddler group.  I have a solid understanding of safeguarding and am not afraid to speak up or challenge others when it is necessary.

In 2018 I completed an Open University Degree in Health and Social Care and have since worked as a family support worker both in the community and in residential settings, as well as a drug and alcohol recovery worker.   I have now stopped working so that I am able to spend more time with my new grandson.  I am a Deacon at Potter Street Baptist Church in Harlow and am often found in the kitchen cooking for Messy Church and children’s holiday club activities, recently I started volunteering at a local food share.
