Location: Peldon near Colchester

Salary: £14,911 (Band A) - £15,681 (Band B) (pro-rata for part time)

Additional payment will be made for sleep in duties and enhanced rates of pay will apply to this role for weekend working.

Hours:  Full time 37 hours per week plus sleep in duties

You will provide daily support to people who are on the autistic spectrum, supporting and encouraging service users to utilise activities and opportunities available to them through Autism Anglia’s service within a residential provision.

You will be a flexible, positive, energetic and enthusiastic individual who will work as part of a team of support workers and your main duties will include:

  • Accompanying service users on community-based activities and personal appointments
  • Supporting service users with personal care, health and hygiene with the focus of developing daily life skills
  • Acting as a key worker where appropriate, being responsible for the service user’s particular needs
  • Keeping up to date and accurate records and support plans/risk assessments to reflect the service user’s requirements
  • Ensuring the quality of support given meets the identified needs 

Experience:

We need people who share our passion for making a difference and although the experience of working with autism would be valuable, it is not essential for this role as full training will be given. 

  • Experience of working within care services or with individuals with an autistic spectrum condition – desirable
  • Ability to react with sensitivity and empathy - essential
  • Ability to maintain accurate records – essential
  • HSC Level 2 – Care or equivalent – or the willingness to achieve this - essential
