Autism Anglia’s Doucecroft School provides education and care for children and young people with autistic spectrum condition.  This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a well-established charity who provide to their staff ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment.

You will assist in managing the EHCP process for pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN); including promoting high quality teaching, effective use of resources, and high standards of learning and achievement for all pupils. In addition to liaison with parents/carers and external stakeholders.

Your main duties will include:

To assist the SENDCO in leading the provision for SEND within school, to include:

  • Manage the administration of EHCP review processes.
  • To support the provision of SEND, including EHCP and annual review processes.
  • To liaise with relevant outside agencies to ensure that individual pupil SEN are met effectively and that the requirements of the EHCP of SEN are met fully.
  • Keep accurate records of meetings and discussions with parents and outside agencies.
  • Use data effectively to support subject and phase leads, alongside class teachers to identify pupils who are underachieving, and where necessary create and implement effective plans of action to support those pupils.
  • To stay abreast of funding eligibility criteria and support the SENDCO in ensuring all relevant fees and premiums match provision effectively.
  • To promote a ‘child impact focus’ to monitor the effectiveness of interventions, within the context of the schools aims and policies.


  • GCSE English and Maths at C grade (or equivalent)
  • Qualified to at least level 3 in a relevant discipline.


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and confidence navigating IT systems.
  • Able to work closely with the wider school community in the development of provision for pupils with SEND
  • Skilled at developing children’s self-esteem and motivation so that they become resilient,  independent learners
  • Experience of working closely with parents in successful home-school partnerships that support pupils’ needs
