Help & Advice Practical Advice Respite Respite care is a chance for you and the person you are caring for to take a break. It can be very beneficial for both of you as it offers you, as the care-giver, a chance to relax and take care of your own well-being, spend time with your friends and family and a break from the responsibility of caring for someone. For the individual with ASC, it is a chance to make new friends and support networks outside of your family, try new activities and spend some time away from home. Ask your local authority for a carers’ assessment. This determines what help you might be able receive from social services, including respite care.
