For many working parents and carers, finding the right autism or ADHD support can feel like an impossible task, not because help doesn’t exist, but because support often isn’t available at the times you can actually access it.
Over the past year, our teams have been listening closely to families across Colchester and Tendring, and one message has come through again and again:
“I want support… but traditional drop‑ins just don’t work around my schedule.”
Whether it’s work commitments, after‑school routines, caring responsibilities, or simply the exhaustion that comes with busy family life, many people told us they were missing out on vital guidance because the timing didn’t work for them.
So, as we begin World Autism Acceptance Month 2026, we’re doing something new, something built with working families in mind.
For the very first time, we will be hosting a FREE online drop‑in, designed specifically for parents, carers, and young people who need support outside standard office hours.
This is a chance to speak directly with our Community Connect Team through a simple video call, from wherever you are at home, at work, or on the go.
It’s flexible. It’s accessible. It’s designed with real life in mind. 🙌
Our Community Connect work has always been about meeting people where they are emotionally, practically, and now, virtually.
Families told us they needed:
✅ Support after typical working hours
✅ A way to get guidance without travelling
✅ Short, focused conversations that fit into busy schedules
✅ A chance to ask questions without judgement or pressure
And Community Connect Online delivers exactly that.
For many families, this may be the first time they’ve been able to attend a session at all, something that fills us with pride, excitement, and hope for where we can take the service.

Our Community Connect Team is here to offer friendly, practical guidance on a wide range of challenges that you may be facing at home, at school, or in everyday life.
You can use your 15‑minute session to chat about things like:
💡 Behaviours that feel challenging to manage – We’ll help you make sense of what’s happening and explore strategies that work.
💡 School transitions or big life changes – If you’re unsure about next steps, from moving year groups to preparing for college, we’re here to guide you.
💡 Support with DLA or PIP applications – These processes can be daunting. We can answer questions, explain terminology, and offer tips to help you feel more confident.
And remember, there’s always:
✅ No jargon
✅ No judgement
✅ No pressure
✅ No need for a formal diagnosis
Just a compassionate ear and guidance from people who truly understand autism and ADHD.
For many families, getting to in‑person drop‑ins has been difficult ,even impossible. Children need dinner or support with homework, parents are still commuting, carers have multiple roles to juggle, and by the time evening arrives, energy is running low.
Providing an online option means:
This online approach allows us to reach more people, more conveniently, and in a way that feels safe, accessible, and manageable. And for many families, it may be the moment that brings a bit more clarity, reassurance, and calm.
Support doesn’t always come in big, life‑changing moments. Sometimes, it’s a 15‑minute conversation that helps everything fall into place just a little more.
It’s the relief of finally being able to ask the questions you’ve been carrying alone.
It’s the comfort of hearing, “You’re doing the right thing.”
It’s the reassurance that comes from someone who understands the system and can help you navigate it.
It’s the little shift that makes tomorrow feel a bit more manageable.
If you’ve been feeling like you’re going in circles trying to find the right advice, this might be the moment that brings things into focus.
Community Connect Online is open to:
✅ Parents and carers of autistic and/or ADHD young people aged 0–25
✅ Young people themselves (with or without a diagnosis)
✅ Families living in Colchester and North Tendring
✅ Anyone seeking clarity, reassurance, or practical next steps
Whether you’re waiting for assessment, newly diagnosed, or simply feeling unsure, you are always welcome. 🙌
To keep the sessions meaningful, supportive, and personal, spaces are limited.

It takes just a moment, and it might be the start of something that makes life feel a little lighter, a little clearer, and a little easier for you and your family.
