Pupils at Autism Anglia’s Doucecroft school, as well as adults supported by the charity in its residential and supported siving services, outreach and opportunities centre in Colchester were joined by parents, carers, and charity trustees at a BBQ held at the specialist school.

James McQuiggan, chief executive at Autism Anglia said:

 “After speaking to parents of people we support though the charity, I realised many wanted the opportunity to meet others that we support and their families in a safe space.
 Around 250 people attended, and it was a lovely afternoon for our services across Essex.
 Some people have been supported by the charity for 40 years, but often don’t get a chance to meet people from other areas of the charity, so this was a wonderful opportunity for everyone.”

Staff from across the charity pitched in to put on a wonderful afternoon where guests enjoyed delicious food prepared by Doucecroft Schools catering team, we had bouncy castles and face-painting for the children and adults we support, and music from our resident DJ/Careers Lead at Doucecroft!
