Based at the Jigsaw Centre you will support and teach our day students skills appropriate to their individual needs. As part of an amazing team working in a creative environment you will help our students with the unique challenges that they face, helping them to achieve their personal goals so that they can gain further independence. You will be enthusiastic and naturally creative with ideas to engage our students in activities both in the centre and in the widder community.

Your main duties will include:

  • Assisting the instructors with day to day running of the departments and activities, subject to guidance and support of the Jigsaw Opportunities Centre team and management
  •  Ensure the safety of our individuals and staff is maintained at all times
  • Provide daily support to our individuals and help them with the challenges they may face, in line with their support plans.
  • To be flexible in your approach and ability to support our individuals within their timetabled department, following activity plans left by the absent instructors.
  • Support our individuals within a structured programme of activities to meet their goals.

Experience:

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a calm, patient and relaxed   manner, a flexible outlook and the following experience and skills.

  • Experience of working with people with an Autism Spectrum condition (D)
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE level standard (or equivalent) including maths and English (A-C) (E)
  • City and Guilds certificate in further education or Adult Education or PTLLS (or equivalent) (D)

It is desirable that the successful applicant holds a full driving license.
