Salary: £10,656 pa min (£8.91ph), plus the relevant enhancement rates


Weekend £11.13 per hour

Bank Holidays £13.36 per hour

Christmas / New Year £17.82 per hour

Hours: 23 hours per week; Sunday - Thursday

We are recruiting for a cook to prepare and serve a balanced and nutritious choice of meals to a maximum of 20 people per day. We are a specialist service supporting individuals with autism and you will be an integral part of a friendly, dedicated, caring and professional team.

This is no ordinary role and everyday will enable you to make a difference to the lives of the people we support. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a well-established charity.  Autism Anglia provides ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, due to the nature of the role and tasks involved.

Your main duties will include:

  • Preparation and serving of meals on a daily basis
  • Menu planning within a budget which provides both choice and well-balanced meals
  • Keep accurate records; carrying out and recording health and safety checks in the kitchen including daily fridge, freezer and food temperatures
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene; keep the kitchen, equipment and work surfaces clean and safe
  • Undertake weekly and monthly cleaning schedule
  • Occasional food ordering


  • Food Safety Award Level 2 (E) (2 hour online course - can be obtained prior to commencement, if offer is made we will pay for it) 
  • Food Preparation and Service Technical Certificate Level 2 (D)
  • Professional cooking, or catering experience, of at least 1 year (E)
  • Working in a residential care environment (D)
  • Communicating with individuals who have additional or complex needs
