At Doucecroft our students benefit from an autism-specific curriculum that accommodates their interests and strengths as well as developing their skills in other areas where they may be less confident. Their individual student plans specify which objectives each student is working on at any time.
Our classes are small with a high level of adult support, depending on students’ needs. We tailor the curriculum around each student’s abilities and interests.
Students have access to teaching kitchen, a physical fitness suite, sensory rooms, a swimming pool, an ICT suite and extensive well-equipped outdoor play areas.
The FE College provides students with experience in life skills within a structured curriculum.
Both day and residential students experience activities off the school site in the community.
Our residential provision provides a home-from-home environment where students can develop independence under the care of experienced and dedicated professionals.
Our therapy team work closely with education and care staff to ensure therapy is integrated into all aspects of living and learning at Doucecroft. For those students who would benefit from sensory integration therapy, we have a fully equipped sensory integration suite.
Our positive working relationships with parents are crucial to each child’s success. Partnership working is at the centre of everything we do at Doucecroft. Parents, carers and family members are encouraged to take part in the life of the school. Some of our students now enjoy Holiday Activities which are open during the Easter and Summer breaks.
