What We Do for Adults - Community Support

Working With Community Support

A house with 3 service users living in it, each requiring 24 hour care and support, requires 6 full time and 1 part time staff members and access to a large number of bank staff, able to fill in where needed.

Each staff member receives the following mandatory training:

  • LDQ (Learning Disability Qualification) Induction Award (City & Guilds): Formally assessed knowledge based qualification in “Supporting People who have Learning Disabilities”
  • Studio III: managing challenging behaviour in a non-violent, gentle and dignified way
  • Autism Awareness and Understanding TEACCH
  • POVA (Protection of Vulnersable Adults)
  • First Aid
  • Food Hygiene
  • Fire Safety
  • Medication
  • Specialist training from our Clinical Psychology team, e.g. Low Arousal
  • Specialist training from our Speech and Language team, e.g. Makaton
  • Any training relevant to individual service users

All care staff complete an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) to a level appropriate to their post.
