What We Do for Adults - Community
Support |
|
|
Introduction
The pilot scheme for Community Support opened in 2004
with 1 service user living in their own home. Since then it
has increased significantly and is proud to be supporting 7
houses at the end of 2008 with a view to opening a further
two houses in 2009.
Whilst Community Support is similar to Adult Residential
Services in many ways, there are some fundamental
differences making this a more natural environment for
individuals
to live in. In Adult Services, service users are residents
in an Autism Anglia owned house, receiving 24-hour
specialist care. However in Community Support, service users
rent their house from a local Housing Association and are
responsible for paying all their own bills, while Autism
Anglia only provides the 24 hour specialist care.
Increasing from one house in 2004 to seven houses in 2008
means the 40 fully trained staff are able to provide each of
their 14 service users with the individual specialist care
required.
