What We Do for Adults - Community Support

The Houses

The Community Support motto is “We don’t do anything for, but will fully support with anything that the service users need to achieve”. Therefore, each individual house is unique, meeting the needs of all the people who live there, while we try to make the environment in all the houses relaxed and friendly with a homely feel.

Communicating with each service user is done on an individual basis. The TEACCH programme uses symbols, photographs and where possible or needed, service users are encouraged to draw their own pictures to identify many of the activities, tasks and actions performed during the day. As many of our service users do not communicate verbally, this is the best way to ensure they not only hear what they are being told, but also understand what it means for them. Using the full range of TEACCH symbols, everyone in the house is fully aware of what is going on in their lives at all times and all service users are empowered to take a full role in their steady progress.
