Working in Adult Residential Services
Running adult residential services takes a small army of staff, from support workers and management to
cooks, cleaning and maintenance staff. Staff
receive all the necessary training to do their job
effectively and safely. Some of the courses provided
are:
- LDQ (Learning Disability Qualification) Induction Award
(City & Guilds): Formally assessed knowledge based
qualification in “Supporting People who have Learning
Disabilities”
- Studio III: managing challenging behaviour in a non-violent,
gentle and dignified way
- Autism Awareness and Understanding
TEACCH
- PoVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults)
- First Aid
- Food Hygiene
- Fire Safety
- Medication
- Specialist training from our Clinical Psychology
team, e.g. Low Arousal
- Specialist training from our Speech and Language
team, e.g. Makaton
- Any training relevant to individual service users
