What We Do for Adults - Adult
Residential Services |
|
|
Mersea Road Houses
Autism Anglia has two houses on Mersea Road in
Colchester. Bourne House caters for four adults and
Coldwell Villa houses five.
A
homely atmosphere is one of the first things you notice when
entering the houses. The staff are relaxed, the
lounges and kitchens are well presented and the service
users all seem happy in their surroundings.
Coupled with the atmosphere, the staff encourage
personal development and independence in each service user.
Supervision is provided appropriate to each individual,
giving each person the encouragement, resources and safety
needed for them to better understand the world around them.
Coldwell Villa

Coldwell Villa houses 5 adults with Asperger's Syndrome.
Many of the adults in the house appear to be able to
communicate with other people, but rely heavily on rituals
or patterns in conversation and they can find it difficult
to understand or relate to unusual circumstances or
conversations.
All service users enjoy a full programme of activities, at
Jigsaw, in the home and utilising local services in the
community.

Bourne House
Bourne
House was started after several service users in our Peldon
campus made significant progress towards independence and it
was felt that they would be better served in a new house.
With the bare minimum of staff support, this house runs like
a normal home, with the service users buying their own
shopping and cooking for each other.
