The 2010 Charity Jailbreak
was held on 17th and 18th April. The event was a
success, despite the flight ban caused by the
recent volcanic ash cloud forcing some teams to cancel their plans.
Several teams were still able to take part to help raise
money for Autism Anglia, Essex Air Ambulance and
Essex Wildlife Trust.
Participants had up to 24
hours to get as far away from Colchester Castle
as possible without spending any of their own
money or using their own or friend's transport.
They were literally ‘on-the-run’!

Teams were released at 10am
from the castle by Colchester's mayor, Cllr
Henry Spyvee and his wife Vivien.
The teams competed in several
categories:
Furthest Overall
Distance was won by Holly Smart and
Rebecca Rahmani-Manesh who against the odds
managed to get to Dublin by rail and sea!
|
Most Unusual
Destination was won by Christine
Goodwin and Veronique Foster, who got to the top
of Mount Snowdon.
Most Unusual Mode of Transport
was won by Landé Fourie and
Suzanne Scott (pictured above) who managed to get on the
Wheel of Sheffield as part of their Jailbreak efforts!
The 8hr Jailbreak
was won by David Pickles and Joe Masterson who
got to St Neots in Cambridgeshire using pedal
power.
Thanks to Dream 100 and
Colchester Karate Academy for donating
prizes for the winners!
We are looking for more teams with a sense of adventure
and fun to take part in our next Jailbreak which is
taking place on 2nd and 3rd October 2010!
Prizes will also be given for Most
Sponsorship Raised and Best Fancy Dress!
