David Cycles End to End for Autism
Anglia
On Friday 21st August, Colchester cyclist
David Pomphrett will be getting his pedals ready to cycle
from Lands End to John O’Groats – nearly 1000 miles from the
most southern point of England to the northern tip of
Scotland, all in aid of Autism Anglia.
David aims to raise thousands of pounds for
the charity, which provides a range of services across East
Anglia to enable people with autism to live as independently
as possible and to experience choice and inclusion in
society, as well as providing invaluable support for family
and carers of people with autism.
David
also hopes to raise the public’s awareness of autism and
challenge misconceptions about the condition. After visiting
Doucecroft School in Eight Ash Green, which is run by Autism
Anglia, David was even more determined to do something to
help.
He has found support for his efforts in a
variety of places. Grant’s SEAT Garage in Braintree has
offered to provide a back-up car free of charge (plus
t-shirts, graphics and a full tank of diesel!), WRS are
providing insurance for the trip and Holiday Inn have
organised two night’s accommodation for David and his backup
team en route.
Ipswich Building Society, PruProtect,
Legal & General and HP Law have all given financial support
too. If you would like to sponsor David’s trip, please visit
his fundraising page online

If you want to know more about David’s
trip he will be interviewed on BBC Essex Radio on 17th
August at 10.40am to explain why he has set himself this
challenge.
