Department of Health Publishes Consultation Document

Perhaps the event with the biggest potential for many years to really change the lives of people with autism, and their families, was the publication by the Department of Health on 29 April of ‘A Better Future. A consultation on the future strategy for adults with autistic spectrum conditions’. Through Autism Anglia’s involvement of the Autism External Reference Group we were invited to help draft the initial document that was used by Phil Hope MP (Minister of State for Care Services) and the Department to produce the consultation strategy document.

Cambridge Family Study of Autism

The Cambridge Family Study of Autism, funded by the Medical Research Council, is a project based in the Autism Research Centre at the University of Cambridge.

The project will run for two years until 2012, and will use magnetic resonance imaging (a safe form of imaging that does not use any X-rays) to investigate the cause of the social impairments that occur in people with autism.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity - Supporting Children in Education

For a child with ASD, the move from primary to secondary school can be a very difficult change. A new research grant from the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity is helping to develop support packages to help to make the process easier.
