How You Can Help

There are a number of ways in which you can help Autism Anglia  You don't always have to give up your time volunteering or organising fundraising events, why not consider leaving a legacy or setting up a direct debit to the charity through your pay slip.  Please see below for more information on how you can help.

Make a donation

Autism Anglia relies on the generosity of the public to ensure that children and adults with autism are given the very best to help them in life.

Our many sites constantly need updating and improving; furniture and equipment often needs replacing and new ways of improving our services are always being developed. All this requires a significant amount of money (we receive no financial support from the National Autistic Society).

We want to not only provide first class education and care now but also be able to provide for our children and adults as they and the charity continue to develop.

You can donate online using the Charity Choice secure website via the Co-op bank by clicking here

You can also send a cheque made payable to Autism Anglia and post it to us using our FREEPOST address:

Freepost RRYA-GCGZ-CRKU
Autism Anglia
Century House
North Station Road
Colchester
CO1 1RE

(This service is free but if you do add a stamp to your envelope it will save us the cost of the postage).

Please remember to Gift Aid your donation For every £1 you donate to the Autism Anglia, we can reclaim the tax to increase your donation to £1.28 through the Gift Aid scheme. There's no extra cost to you - all you have to do is make a Gift Aid Declaration. This simply means that you confirm that you are a UK tax payer and that you are happy for us to reclaim the tax. All donations qualify - large or small, regular or one-off, and whatever the method of payment. A Gift Aid form can be downloaded here.
Please choose to donate Gift Aid when you see the option.

Leaving a legacy

Legacies are a wonderful opportunity for people to show their appreciation of the value of our work in a way that they may not be able to do during their lifetime.  However small or large, your donation really can make a difference and help us to plan ahead with confidence.

If you have not already made a will, it is simple to do and not as expensive as you may think.  If you do not make a will, then in effect the state does it for you. Without a will (or with one that is not up to date), there are certain rules which dictate where your money and possessions go. This could mean that your family and friends might not necessarily benefit.

Leaving a gift to charity not only helps a good cause, it also reduces your inheritance tax liability as any it is deducted from the value of your estate before it is considered for tax.

If you have already made a will, then it is quite easy to make an addition to it by making a codicil, which is then lodged with your existing will.  Contact your solicitor for more advice.

If you would like to talk to us about leaving a gift to Autism Anglia in your Will or to receive your FREE copy of our Will Information Pack please contact us on 01206 577678.

Payroll Giving

A small donation each pay day can make a significant different to lives of people with autism.

Payroll giving is a tax efficient way of giving donating through your salary, directly from your pay. The money comes out of your wages before it is taxed making it one of the most cost-effective ways of donating to us. For example if you donate £10 a month to us from your pay, your gift will only cost you £7.80 - The Inland Revenue gives us the extra £2.20! (At the basic rate of taxation) You will need to talk to your payroll department to arrange a scheme that allows you to donate through your salary. They do this by signing a contract with a Government approved agency, such as the Charities Aid Foundation. Once they have done this, you will need to inform your payroll department of how much you want to donate. It will then come out of your pay packet before you are taxed.

Recycling

In the UK alone, over 2 million printer cartridges are thrown away and 15 million mobiles are left, unwanted, each year. Every cartridge thrown away and every mobile left in a draw could be used to raise vital funds for Autism Anglia.  We have partnered up with recycle4charity.co.uk who can collect your empty cartridges and phones and convert them into donations for the charity.  Please visit our special page on their website www.recycle4charity.co.uk
