Education never really stops in life but being prepared for a life beyond childhood and the safety of a school environment can make all the difference in how experiences are encountered. It is with this eye towards adulthood that the Further Education Department looks – the focus being to give the best possible transition for its students to take them from childhood into confident adults who have developed independent life skills that can be applied throughout their lives.
Further Education provision, for children aged 16 to 19 years old, is offered at the main Doucecroft School site in Eight Ash Green. Every student, whether attending for a school day or boarding through the week, is encouraged to engage with tasks in a wider context, so that skills learnt can be transferred to a life beyond their education. Curriculums are designed and individually tailored to give students a wide variety of learning opportunities, both on site and in the community, according to their need and level of motivation.
Enabling students to start adult life with confidence in their own ability to problem solve and tackle everyday tasks is in many ways the best education of all as it can lead them to explore many adventures of their own.
Doucecroft School received its latest OFSTED Report in February 2014 achieving a "Good" Standard overall with "Outstanding" elements. The full report can be seen by clicking here.
