Colchester Charity Jailbreak
18th - 19th April 2009
Next years date for the Colchester Charity Jailbreak has now been set for the 18th & 19th April 2009. We are looking for teams to register as soon as possible to help raise money for 4 local charities including Autism Anglia, Essex Air Ambulance, Diabetes UK and Open Road.
Participants have up to 24 hours to get as far away from Colchester Castle as possible without spending any of their own money or using their own or friend's transport. They will be literally ‘on-the-run’ and have to beg and borrow transportation and favours.
There are three categories for the teams to compete in:
Furthest Overall Distance which was won by Claire
Walters & Stacey Owen in 2008 who managed to get as far as Rome! Your
challenge is to beat them!
Most Unusual Destination which was won by PCSO's Red Leeson & Claire McWilliams in 2008 who spent the night in a haunted Jail in Inverary, Scotland.
Furthest Distance using most modes of transport which was won by Jemma Measor and Claire Warden in 2008 who made it to Minden in Germany, via Amsterdam, using a bus, plane, various trains, coaches and even a limousine!
8hr Jailbreak for those who don't fancy staying out all night an 8hr version is also on offer. This was won by Joe Andrews and Susan Faiers in 2008 who got to Gt. Yarmouth using buses and trains across East Anglia. Which was an excellent achievement considering they had no pre-planning!
This year First Travel will be offering free bus travel to all Jail breakers to help them on their way out of Essex!
We are looking for more teams with a sense of adventure and fun! Call now to register your interest!
If you are interested in taking part please contact your chosen charity to register and start planning your escape!
