About Autism Anglia

Autism Anglia is an independent charity which provides care and support to children, adults and families affected by autism. 

Services in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk, managed from offices in Colchester and Dereham, offer personalised approaches that provide each individual with the necessary skills and strategies to enable them to realise their own strengths and abilities.

The charity also seeks to promote a greater knowledge and understanding of autism through training, education and supplying information to the public and professionals.

                                    Autism Anglia offers the following services:

For children and young people:

For adults aged 17 plus:

  • Adult Residential Houses - Provides a welcome, homely atmosphere in a calm environment, focusing on independence, developing new skills and social opportunities. 
  • Supported Living packages - Focuses on developing independence by supporting people in their own homes. Support can be given with everday needs, all tailored to the individual. 
  • Adult Opportunity Centres - Offers day opportunities for adults with autism and personalised session for everyone, reflecting the individuality of each person with autism.
  • Outreach and respite programmes - A bespoke service designed around individual needs from two to twenty-four hours of support a day. Flexible support packages are available offering individualised support and advice. 

For families and individuals affected by autism:

  • Autism Advice Service - Provides support and advice to individuals, families and professionals. Our Autism Advisors have extensive knowledge of local services, offer free information and can sign-post to other support agencies.
  • Autism Alert Card - Designed so an individual's behaviour or the nature of their condition can be quickly explained when in a difficult or emergency situation. 

For professionals:

  • Professional advice and training - A range of services for professionals so that you can begin to understand how your service is perceived by those with autism.
  • Our work with the Autism Alliance - The main UK network of specialist autism charities, committed to improving the lives of people with autism. We can offer free autism awareness training through our work with the Autism Alliance and the Autism Charter. 
  • AASPIN network for professionals - A forum, created by Autism Anglia, for professionals working with children and adults with autism.
